Gone Fishing Day

NSW Gone Fishing Day is on again and will be running a host of events to celebrate our love of fishing, of which the beautiful waterways of Port Stephens is one the best fishing locations on the East Coast.

There is something for everyone, including beginners, who want to learn about fishing, as well as activities for the keen angler.

Free, fun-filled fishing activities at each location will include: how-to fish workshops, casting competitions, goodie bags with bonus lures, expert fishing tips, touch tanks, loads of kids' activities, how to cook classes and activity marquees

Snappy, our crab mascot, will also be making an appearance and handing out lots of cool prizes.

Free fishing workshops will be held on Nelson Bay Beach at 9:30am, 10:30am, 11:30am, 12:30pm and 1:30pm. Registration opens 15 minutes before each session.

Ben Way, Head Chef from the Little Beach Boathouse will be providing fish preparation and cooking demonstrations at 10:15am, 11:15am, 12:15pm and 1:15pm. Demonstrations will include locally available kingfish, snapper and flathead.
