Learn to draw on natures canvas

You can join a cultural tour where you will learn about indigenous culture and traditional foods. Ride from bush to beach and take in the glorious views of the sweeping coastline.

Meet the local dolphins

We are privileged here in Port Stephens to have 130 bottlenose dolphins that call the bay home. And luckily they’re not shy! See them ride the bow waves on board one of our dolphin cruises or for a totally immersive experience swim with the dolphins as they race and play around you. A truly unique and, some say, spiritual experience.

Take a stroll and ride a camel on the dunes

What better way to experience the monumental sand dunes and the glorious coastline of Port Stephens than by camel. Climb on board your dromedary for a leisurely stroll through the dunes and along the beach. If you’d prefer to pick up the pace a little take a horse ride and experience the thrill of galloping along the shoreline or a gentle walk through the dunes. See a show on a whale watching tour

Every year, between May and November, you can see the largest mammals on planet earth, the magnificent humpback whales, up close and personal as they pass our coastline during the annual migration season on a whale watching cruise or from one of our many land-based viewing spots. Your cruise will take you past the heads onto the humpback highway where there’s a good chance you’ll witness these curious animals put on a show.

Put your feet up and enjoy the ride

The Stockton Bight Sand Dunes in the Worimi Conservation Lands (the largest moving dunes in the southern hemisphere) are an ever-changing landscape of incredible beauty. Experience the adrenaline rush of quad biking or sand boarding down the 30 metre slopes or take a 4WD tour to discover the Worimi peoples links to these ancient lands. 4WD beach passes and tag along tours give off-road adventurers a chance to experience the 32km stretch of dunes from their own vehicles.

Explore the underwater world

Dive right in to some of the best shore diving in NSW. Whether you’re an experienced scuba diver or it’s your first ever snorkel… the Port Stephens Great Lakes Marine Park boasts a range of dive sites to suit all levels. Like the popular Fly Point in Nelson Bay thriving with fish and famous for coral and nudibranchs and The Pipeline… a must see for macro divers and keen photographers.

With 26 beautiful beaches and a bay twice the size of Sydney Harbour you’re likely to find the perfect surf break, dive site, fishing spot or sheltered beach for swimming and picnicking. Go four wheel driving along the 32km Stockton Beach, surf at One Mile, take a boat out at Little Beach, yoga SUP ... come and explore our beautiful coast!
